Mathias Currat

I am a scientist based in Geneva (Switzerland), trying to merge my passions for Biology and Computer science in my professional activities! Specialized in population genetics, I am teaching and leading a research on Human settlement history and evolution at the University of Geneva. In parallel, I am also working as web developer and expert at Cybermedia Concepts.

• Various research projects in genetics focusing on the influence of demography and natural selection on the genetic structure of human populations (but also in other organisms).
• Development of simulation softwares for population genetics research, such as SPLATCHE2 and SELECTOR.
• Web development and consulting at CyberMedia Concepts.
• Lecturer in "Human Biology", "Evolution" and "European Prehistory (Neolithic)".
• In charge (with J. Nunes) of the workshop "Computer skills for biological research"
• Co-organization of the workshops "Molecular Population Genetics" and "Scientific methodology in biological research".

• Creation and development of the software SPLATCHE, in collaboration with the CMPG lab at the University of Bern, Switzerland
• Creation and maintenance of web sites.
• Participation to various teaching at the University of Bern: "Human genetic history", "Population genetics practical (Statistical data analysis)", "Seminar on Advances in molecular biology" and "General genetics exercises".
• Participation to various teaching at the University of Geneva: "Introduction to computer science", "Practical course in population genetics", "Human biology".
• Punctually, seminars for private companies (e.g. "Introduction to the internet" at the BNP Paribas Bank, Geneva)
